A Beautiful Day for a Wedding | Kiki & Justin Wedding Photos

November 9, 2018 March 15, 2026 From the Hip Photo

Located just a handful of miles outside of Denver (and near Aurora!), Foxfield is a small town that offers an escape from the big city while still being near the heart of Colorado. This unique location makes Foxfield a great wedding destination. We were excited to join Kiki and Justin at their traditional Catholic wedding earlier this fall!

Livin’ la Vida Local on tasteMAKERS

November 8, 2018 March 15, 2026 From the Hip Photo

Jack Rabbit Hill Farm Jack Rabbit Hill Farm is a diversified farm and producer of local Colorado wine. The farm sits near Hotchkiss in western Colorado’s North Fork Valley. The farm grows 18 acres of grapes, and is also home to sheep and cattle. In 2006, Jack Rabbit Hill Farm began practicing biodynamic farming. This farming method entails “fermenting/composting different plant and animal materials together.” This helps the farm avoid using inorganic pesticides and fertilizer. The owner of Jack Rabbit Hill Farm, Lance Hanson, claims the practice has increased the quality of his products. Judging by the fact that the farm’s local Colorado wine is starring in its own episode of tasteMAKERS next, we’re inclined to believe him! Lance’s episode will focus on a program he calls WineTapistry. The program offers Jack Rabbit Hill Farm wines at lower prices to “Colorado restaurants, caterers, and events.” It also includes a few non-Coloradan wines selected by Lance. You can find WineTapistry at venues such as Denver’s own Yeah Baby and Bar Dough. But the program goes beyond offering delightful local Colorado wine. All the WineTapistry wines can be blended together to create new, custom wines for any ocassion. The Maker Movement tasteMAKERS is

A Wardrobe For the Working Woman | June Ruby

November 7, 2018 March 15, 2026 From the Hip Photo

The world of fashion is moving faster than ever, and we seem to be getting busier with each day! Staying stylish has always taken effort, but these days it is especially difficult to put together a solid wardrobe. For the modern woman on the go, putting together a versatile, fun closet might seem too much of a hassle to even attempt. Luckily, June Ruby is here to prove that buying quality modern women's clothing is not just possible, but easy. A Boutique With a Mission But what exactly is June Ruby? In their own words, they are "part boutique, e-tailer, and personal shopper." That's quite a lot! Their purpose, however, is simple: "June Ruby offers a refined selection of styles for women who have places to be, things to do, and want to look great doing it." Now that's a mission we can get behind! Here at From the Hip Photo, we're lucky enough to just be a few steps away from June Ruby, one of our neighbors at the Stanley Marketplace. A Full Range of Fashion While June Ruby's audience might be women who don't have time to hunt for clothes themselves, that doesn't mean that they're only focused on professional

Customized Comfort | Bespoke Edge

November 5, 2018 March 15, 2026 From the Hip Photo

For centuries, we’ve been using the idiom “it fits like a glove” to describe well-fitting garments. But it’s 2018 now, and we don’t wear gloves all that often anymore. Frankly, we think it’s about time for our entire outfits to start fitting well. Working in the photography industry, weddings and other formal events tend make up the bulk of our business. Because of this, we are especially appreciative of the work that Bespoke Edge does to help Colorado’s men look their best. Bespoke Edge offers stylish, custom menswear for the modern man (or groom!) Keeping It Local While many similar menswear chains are massive, nationally-owned corporate entities, Bespoke Edge is a local business. It’s even family owned! Ron Wagner and his sons, Brett and Ryan, are focused on providing custom menswear to Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins. When you shop at Bespoke Edge, you know you’re dealing with a business that cares about more than your money. Special Day, Special Clothes Your wedding day is an unforgettable experience. It follows that you would want to look your absolute best, particularly if you’ve got a certain photography company in tow! With so much planning already being required to ensure your wedding

October 31, 2018 March 15, 2026 interns

Ever feel like you're being watched? Maybe a bit of déjà vu? There certainly was no shortage of spooks and scares at ILEA's '6th Sense' event earlier this month! Hosted at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, ILEA threw a Halloween party featuring creepy cocktails, snacks, and even a corn-maze! Check out some our photos from ILEA at Chatfield Farms below! What is ILEA? ILEA, or the 'International Live Events Association', is a "global community of thousands of creative event professionals whose skills, expertise and experience power some of the most recognized and respected live events around the world". They specialize heavily in educational and collaborative networking events across the globe, which can help bolster local communities and connections. Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms Chatfield Farms is a 700-acre native plant refuge and working farm that's located in southern Jefferson County. The area is a beautiful spot for birdwatching, scenic walks, and for picking up the perfect pumpkin! Chatfield also has a couple of historical buildings; a restored dairy farm and silo from 1918, the 1874 Deer Creek Schoolhouse, and the historical Hildebrand Ranch. Hildebrand Ranch was the location early German pioneers settled at back in the 1860s. We'll leave you with spooky

Chairlift to Heaven | Mikal & Andrew

October 29, 2018 March 15, 2026 From the Hip Photo

We might be a little biased, but we believe it's hard to beat Colorado in the summertime. We get low humidity, clear skies, and some of the most incredible views around. These qualities all make Colorado a dream wedding destination. And if you're going to get married in Colorado, why not go all out? That's exactly what Mikal and Andrew did in this mountaintop wedding shoot in Keystone! An Uplifting Experience Most people associate chairlifts with ski trips, not weddings. But Mikal and Andrew aren't like most people, and this isn't like most weddings! Besides, hiking in heels on your special day can be a real drag. The fun-loving couple decided to reach their mountaintop wedding shoot in style. If you ask us, it was worth it. Look at that view! Ages of Affection Having loved ones around is always nice, particularly on a day as important as your wedding. Mikal and Andrew were lucky enough to have generations of family both young and old in attendance to celebrate their devotion to each other. Of course, they also had plenty of friends by their sides as well! We doubt this young flower girl will forget this one-of-a-kind experience anytime soon! An

A Senior Celebration | Felicia’s Outdoor Senior Photos

October 26, 2018 March 15, 2026 From the Hip Photo

The end of high school can be a stressful time. Besides their normal schoolwork, students are applying to colleges and preparing to say goodbye to old friends. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the sudden onset of adult responsibilities. But Felicia's outdoor senior photos showed us that senior year can be a time of celebration (and style!) Outdoors in Overalls Felicia came to her photo shoot with a variety of outfits that were both classy and comfortable. In a sturdy pair of light-wash overalls, Felicia ventured out into a creek. The results prove that gorgeous natural photos are what Colorado does best. She later switched into a pair of black jeans and a red shirt. This combination contrasted the shoot's background while showing off Felicia's sense of style. A cute, versatile olive green hat enhanced with both of these outfits. Summer Fashion and Sunflowers Felicia looked at home surrounded by nature. Colorado's beautiful mountains served as the perfect backdrop. She demonstrated that outdoor senior photos can still be elegant with her final outfit. In an ornate black romper, she basked in the perfect summer weather and lighting. Are Outdoor Senior Photos Right For You? Senior year is a momentous

A Wedding With a View | Desirae & Niko

October 24, 2018 March 15, 2026 From the Hip Photo

With summer behind us, there is a lot to look forward to with the changing of the seasons. The color of the leaves will turn and we’ll begin pulling out our sweaters as the temperature cools. It’s a time to relax more and sweat less. While we’re excited about Fall, there’s much we’ll miss about the summer. Today we’re remembering one of our favorite summer memories. Back in June, we did a scenic Granby Ranch wedding shoot with Desirae and Nico. A Granby Ranch Wedding Shoot Granby Ranch, CO is a “four-season mountain community where families connect and play.” You can hit the slopes for an exhilarating day of skiing or play a laid-back game of golf. The ranch has a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. The best part? It offers all the amenities and freedom of a remote resort while only being 90 minutes outside of Denver. Over 500 families live on the ranch, which means you’ll experience a real sense of community. Marise Cipriani, founder of Granby Ranch, writes that the ranch is “where families and friends connect, live, play, and enjoy nature in the Colorado Rockies.” Interested in an outdoor wedding? A Walk in the Park | Bronwen & Rick City Park Family Photos

October 22, 2018 March 15, 2026 From the Hip Photo

Colder weather is right around the corner here in the mile high city. But before you triple layer let's remember those picturesque sunny days that have now come pass. Don't get too down though, if the snowy season isn't your forte, there's always spring to look forward to! Over the summer, we had the pleasure of working with Bronwen, Rick, Toby, and Dash to capture some joyous City Park family photos! This family -- especially the boys -- brought a lot of personality to the table, so we hope you enjoy! City Park City Park is one of the most popular parks in the area. Not only does it have lush and spacious fields, it's also home to the Denver Zoo and the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Even on an slow day, you can find people at City Park doing all sorts of activities. For this session, we spent time near the museum. The front entrance of the museum provides a diverse mix of natural and industrial features. Plus a lots of opportunities for playful handholding with the (fake) animals! The Cutest Sith Lord What a weapon to behold! Although he might be armed with Kylo Ren's lightsaber, Toby
