Someone put this couple in a Denver magazine! We love photographing breathtaking Colorado outdoors for any occasion. However, every once in a while, it’s nice to have a little taste of the city! We celebrated Traci and Andrew at their downtown Denver wedding at the Brown Palace Hotel, and wow was it incredible!

A Denver Dream
Laced in gold and with hints of timeless elegance, this wedding was one for the books. Traci and Andrew welcomed family, friends and even their beloved dog to one of Denver’s oldest, most popular event venues. The Brown Palace Hotel proved the perfect spot for everything from bridal party shots to the ceremony. Located in the heart of the city, nearly everything guests might want is within walking distance: restaurants, museums, bars, music, shopping and more! Check out our blog here for other popular downtown Denver locations!

Black & Gold
Photographing Traci and Andrew with their wedding party was a blast! Friends and family were so bubbly that nearly every shot was a candid one – and that’s not a bad thing! Andrew and the groomsmen looked sharp in their black tuxedos and bowties. The bridesmaids glittered in gold while Traci looked wonderfully chic in a fitted dress and a bouquet that mingled soft flowers and pieces of typed text.
After the pair exchanged vows, we took Traci and Andrew out to the streets of Denver for some intimate photos of just the two of them. And, as expected, this pair looked completely smitten against any background – park, palace and busy street! If you’re looking for a venue that provides elegance with flare, urban life, and old-fashioned vibes, the Denver Brown Palace Hotel is the spot for you!
Congratulations, Traci and Andrew, for a wedding we will not soon forget! You sure showed us what true love is all about!

The Brown Palace Hotel: Denver’s Most Iconic Wedding Venue
The Brown Palace Hotel stands as one of Denver’s most distinguished and photogenic wedding destinations. This historic landmark, built in 1892, offers an unparalleled combination of elegance, architectural beauty, and urban sophistication that creates stunning imagery at every turn.
What makes the Brown Palace so special for wedding photography is the incredible variety of backdrops within a single venue. The ornate lobby with its soaring atrium and ornamental railings provides dramatic, classical interiors. The hotel’s exterior — with its distinctive Romanesque architecture and prominent downtown location — offers iconic urban backdrops. And throughout the building, you’ll find intimate corridors, elegant staircases, and refined gathering spaces, each with its own photographic character.
The hotel’s central downtown location also means you can easily incorporate surrounding Denver landmarks into your portraits. The nearby streets of Lower Downtown, the Colorado State Capitol, and other urban elements add modern context to the classic elegance of the venue itself. Whether you want pure interior elegance or a blend of historic and contemporary Denver, the Brown Palace delivers.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Denver wedding venues are most photogenic?
The Brown Palace, Union Station, Boettcher Mansion, and various outdoor spaces in the Denver foothills top our list. Each offers distinct character — from grand historic interiors to natural Colorado landscapes. We always recommend touring a venue with photography in mind, paying attention to lighting, backgrounds, and the flow between spaces.
How do I choose a venue with photography as a priority?
Look for a mix of interior and exterior spaces, good natural lighting, and clean backgrounds that won’t distract from your couple’s connection. Visit at the same time of day your wedding will take place. Ask the venue about light fixtures, ask your photographer for their favorite angles, and don’t hesitate to scout with your photographer before the wedding day.
Is an indoor wedding venue better than outdoor, photographically speaking?
Both have advantages. Indoor venues like the Brown Palace offer consistent lighting control and architectural drama. Outdoor venues provide natural light and expansive backgrounds. The best choice depends on your style and the season. Many couples choose venues that offer both indoor and outdoor options for flexibility.
What time of day should I plan my ceremony for the best lighting?
Late afternoon ceremonies (3-4 PM) are ideal because they avoid harsh midday sun and position you for golden hour portraits afterward. Morning ceremonies work well for bright, neutral light. Avoid midday (11 AM – 2 PM) if possible. If your venue has beautiful interiors, the time of day matters less.
How do I book a photographer who knows my venue well?
Ask potential photographers about their experience at your specific venue. We’ve photographed at the Brown Palace multiple times and know the best angles, lighting challenges, and flow. A photographer familiar with your venue can anticipate beautiful moments and work more efficiently on the day.
