Freshly fallen February snow is entirely underrated! There is truth to the cliché of “winter wonderland,” and today we will prove it to you. These three, beautiful women invited us to capture their family photos at Kendrick Lake Park in Lakewood, Colorado. Based on these glowing family photos and their abundant smiles, we are convinced a winter flurry has just as much magic as a sky of stars! Snow… in the Park! Kendrick Lake Park, like many Colorado parks, is stocked full of biking and walking paths, beautiful vegetation, a peaceful lake, and playgrounds for all! While many might not think to go to the park after the warm spring and summer months, parks like this prove the most stunning locations for fall and winter family photography. The sky stayed blue and the snow reflected the day’s light like a dream! Three Musketeers Walking paths and snowy bridges proved ideal photography settings while powdered trees and snow-covered fields made stunning backdrops. Furthermore, these three ladies are just about as charming as Christmas morning! Their color coordination of jeans, blacks, and whites made a beautiful collage of wintery hues. They are beautiful, loving, and giggled throughout the whole day. They even
A piggyback ride and some monkey-ing around never hurt anybody! In fact, it’s goofy moments like those that bring a family together and make life sweet. Bethany and Joe’s family photo session at Meyer Ranch Park in Morrison, Colorado was anything but boring and serious. This family of four is just about as cute as it gets! The Location Meyer Ranch Park, as these photos prove, is not only a breathtaking outdoor location among changing fall leaves. This 624-acre park has 4.1 trail miles for walkers, hikers, bikers, and horse riders. Filled with aspen groves and pine forests, this place is sure to fill your lungs with crisp fall air and shadowy soft light. Goofy Games Given these fun outdoor features this park has to offer, it’s no surprise we were excited to join Bethany and Joe and their two children in the park for some picture-worthy shenanigans. If there’s one thing parents love most, it’s the sound of their children’s laughter. Bethany and Joe’s daughter and son were giggle monsters the entire time. Mom’s tickle fights and Dad’s upside down games are sure to make anyone laugh uncontrollably! While we swooned over this family’s silly fun, we couldn’t help
When Annie and Adam asked us to capture their family photos, we jumped at the opportunity — especially since the session was in their backyard!! If one thing is for certain, we are entirely obsessed with this personal backyard session with this family of five, and we are so excited to share these photos with you! The Backyard Bunch This awesome family’s backyard looked absolutely spectacular in the November sun! We utilized the fresh outside air and their Japanese architecture to get some incredible fall shots. Their stunning Japanese engawa porch framed the family just right, giving both a backdrop and a little taste of their family personality. These guys really know how to play with color, too. While nature’s trees exploded in yellows, reds, and oranges, the family wore deep blues and blacks for a contrasting effect. Mom and dad beamed in each other’s arms, and when the time came to bring their kids in, everyone looked both related and painfully beautiful. One thing’s for sure: the good genes stayed in the family! While mom and dad looked lovely, the three kids were just as sweet and likable as their parents. The family dog, Bruce Lee, even made a few
Do you want to take some family photos but are worried how the pictures will turn out? Are you stressed about trying to organize a family of five, six, seven or more into a balanced and good-looking photo? Have no fear! We have some tips for photographing a big family! Balance is Key If you only absorb one thing from this post, remember this: it’s all about balance, balance, balance! The perfect picture — no matter if it’s a portrait, a landscape, or anything in between — must look balanced and equalized. The human eye likes symmetry and stability. Basically, we don’t like to look at something that’s a little off or tilted. Because balance is key, it’s important to know that you can balance your pictures in a variety of ways. Color scheme, levels, and varied body positions all can be toyed with to make things look a little more clean-cut and equalized. This family helps us make our case with their family photo shoot at Denver’s Millennium Bridge! With a family of six, you can imagine it can be a little tricky to organize this crew into some organized pictures. However, our job was not as difficult as
A few turntables, some dusted off classic records, a bit of booze, and you have yourself a good old-fashioned party! This past May, we went to the Vauxhall Ballroom at Denver's Ramble Hotel for a night of music, film, and luminous fun. Record club Vinyl Me, Please paired with the hotel for a musically inspired event called “The Spins: Classics at Vauxhall,” and we could not have been more thrilled to partake in an event of such class and tastefully artistic drive! A Musical Membership Vinyl Me, Please is, indeed, a vinyl record club with a member, magazine, and Record of the Month tradition! While the modern day person might be letting the thought of spinning records and gritty tunes drift far from their memory, these people at Vinyl Me, Please are keeping the life of records alive! Their mission is to remind the public of the power of vinyl records and its influence on cinema, art, and life in popular culture. They even are traveling the U.S. to “find the best record store in every state”! A Night of Classical Culture The record club brought the equipment while the Ramble Hotel provided a perfect space for this classically-themed event. Twisted
Do you love the fall, and want to photograph your family or loved ones during the peak of autumn color? Are you hoping to make the most of your fall season by capturing some unbeatable photos? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, you are in luck! We have written a blog post on fall photography tips for you! Read this “how-to” guide to make your autumn photos turn out the best they can be! Lighting is Key One of photography’s most important considerations is lighting. While paying attention to lighting is crucial in every photo shoot, it is especially so during fall sessions. Autumn’s natural colors are reds, golds, and yellows which have the potential to either overpower or enhance natural lighting. While outdoors trying to capture that stunning gold light, make sure you either use the sun as an illuminant for the colors or a tool for silhouettes. You can get some great pictures with a bright orange backdrop if you angle the lighting just right. You can also capture some stunning silhouette pictures with a halo glow depending on your angle. Whatever you do: chase fall light with caution! Utilize Leaves! Everyone knows that the
Jeff and Hannah are getting married, and they wanted our help shooting their engagement photos at Red Rocks Amphitheatre! And you know what they say… red (rocks) is for love! On April 28th, 2018, we took a trip to the famous concert, movie, and exercise venue to capture this lovely couple among the blooming spring flowers. Red Rocks Buzz Red Rocks Amphitheater is among one of the most photographed and stunning locations in Colorado, and it’s pretty clear why. Outside Morrison, Colorado, the deep, burgundy rock formations and trails of flowers make the ideal place for sweet photos like these. Plus, the natural lighting is often nearly perfect, and there’s a spot for every kind of picture. Also, Check out Emily and Brendan’s Red Rocks engagement photos here! While these two are easy on the eye and soft on the heart, their stories are beautifully interesting. Hannah and Jeff met while attending college at Ohio State, and they couldn’t have picked a more quintessential Colorado location to showcase their engagement. Jeff played football for Ohio State and continued his football career in Colorado. Hannah, a Pilates instructor, loves her job and looked radiant in her blue dress. While the two
From photographing their engagement to their wedding, we have made a great friendship with these two! Now it’s three years since their engagement, and they are back with a baby bump! Alexandra and Noam are expecting, and we went to photograph their maternity photos at Lost Gulch Overlook! Look Who’s Back, Back Again! Lost Gulch Overlook near Boulder is a frequent spot for us for so many reasons. As you can see from all our other Lost Gulch photo sessions, this spot is ideal for any occasion! Colorado mountain views? Check. Sunrise and sunset glows? Check. Wooded hideaways? Also check. No matter the time of year or the occasion, Lost Gulch is kind of our not-so-secret spot, and Alexandra and Noam were the perfect subjects! Who would have thought that when we photographed their engagement and wedding back in 2015 that we would be on top of a mountain helping celebrate their coming baby? These two are due in September of this year, and their excitement is more than evident. Eager with kisses and genuine in laughter, Alexandra and Noam clearly can’t wait to meet this little one in person. Best Dressed While there is a lot on the worldwide
Our #womancrushwednesday goes out to Simona and Steph from PopFitGo! Earlier this year we had the privilege of photographing these women’s editorial, styled shoot. With the goal of showcasing their fitness brand, these two barre instructors looked fierce and fire in both rolling hills and studio! On the Move! You can get a good workout just about anywhere if you look for it. We traveled around various Colorado locations with these women to show just how versatile your workout routine (and clothing) can be! First, we got some majestic shots on Caribou City, Colorado. This abandoned ghost town is just 20 miles west of Boulder, so of course, we had to take advantage of it! Old brick buildings and expansive Colorado landscapes made these fit and fabulous ladies stand out! Next, we took our photo session to Moss Denver, a chic Denver venue in the Santa Fe Arts District. The place is used for both real and style shoots all the time! This place has giant brick walls and wooden furniture that look so natural with greenery and – yep, moss – all around. Simona and Steph got right into the barre groove in this studio space. Their breathable workout

With dogs, baby science books and (our favorite) a stuffed fox animal, the Jackson family proved undoubtedly unique in their family photos at Bluff Lake! If you haven't guessed, we loved capturing every second of this cute family session! Bluff Lake Nature Center: An Urban Escape for Denver Family Photography Sometimes the best photography happens when you step just slightly outside the city -- and Bluff Lake Nature Center, nestled in northeast Denver, offers exactly that experience. This 110-acre urban wildlife refuge provides dramatic natural scenery, peaceful lakeside trails, and an authentic "Colorado wilderness" feel that's only minutes from downtown. What makes Bluff Lake exceptional for family photography is the variety it offers. You'll find open meadows with unobstructed views, tree-lined paths that create intimate framing, a reflective lake that doubles as a beautiful natural backdrop, and genuine wildlife that adds authentic Colorado character to your images.
