Maddie & Katharine | A Botanical Gardens Proposal

Add the Denver Botanic Gardens and a couple in love… does it really get any better than that? Only if there’s a surprise proposal involved!

The best suprise

We were so lucky to be a part of this monumental moment in Maddie and Katharine’s lives. Capturing every detail is one of the best parts of our job! From the gorgeous ring to the pure emotion, this surprise proposal is one for the books.

Pure happiness permeates every photo, and it was very clear that Katharine was taken by complete surprise. Maddie picked the perfect spot to pop the question, proposing lakeside at one of the most beautiful areas in Denver. Tears were shed, kisses were shared and there were embraces a plenty. All of the makings of a couple truly in love, right? Absolutely radiant after (clearly) saying yes, we can already tell Katharine is going to make a beautiful bride.

Afterwards . . .

After ambushing Katharine, we spent the session strolling through tree-lined paths and taking in the scenery. The couple couldn’t get enough of each other— sharing many moments holding hands and exchanging loving glances. They couldn’t stop smiling throughout the entire session, as is apparent in the photos. Very little instruction was necessary with this pair, they were more than happy to show their love.

As if Katharine and Maddie weren’t gorgeous and radiant enough, the ring was a showstopper on its own. A little vintage and a lot sparkly, the iconic symbol of love truly stood out among the blooms in the garden. We love getting detail shots, so we had a lot of fun using our surroundings to highlight the jewelry in a way that was as unique and beautiful as the ring itself.

Surprise proposals are always incredibly special, but when a couple is this infatuated with each other, there is something magical about it. Each image captures the bliss these two experienced, and with a location like the Botanical Gardens, it doesn’t get much better.
